Synopsis: A small town is being terrorized by a killer Bigfoot. One that is blood thirsty, vicious and kills without warning and without discrimination. A scientist by the name of Sarah Evans (Leilani Sarelle) shows up to help the town’s sheriff (Reb Brown) and his deputy girlfriend Roberta (Sherrie Rose) hunt this thing down and put an end to the killings. At the same time, Hunter Crawford (David Campbell) is a thug-like character who along with his two henchmen, is hunting the creature himself, for his own personal gain and he does not care who he has to go through to accomplish this. Enter Charlie Parker (Ted Prior) a tough east coast type who is on a survivalist camping trip, led by the seasoned survivalist Sharon Farmer (Tara Sanford Kleinpeter) at the behest of his young trophy wife (Alissa Koenig) and whom, by no fault of his own, winds up being used as bait for the creature, by Hunter. But there is more at work here than meets the eye. A sinister plot is afoot and at its center is the vengeful Mister Testi (Frank Stallone). And in the end this plot takes a twist that no one will expect.

New York, NY/Irvine, CA 2011 – Cryptozoic Entertainment, famous for its World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, announced today that they have secured the rights from AMC to launch ”The Walking Dead” trading cards. The first release in the series covers the events of the first season and features a 72 card base set along with feature autographs and memorabilia from the popular show.  The trading cards are available in retail locations coming this summer.

“Working on ‘The Walking Dead’ is very exciting for Cryptozoic!  We’re huge fans of the show and we feel that it really lends itself to the trading card category,” said Scott Gaeta, COO at Cryptozoic.  “‘The Walking Dead’ will receive the same premium treatment we are committed to providing to all our partners and fans.”

There’s some gore as body parts are cut off, but more disturbing was the subtle uncomfortable feel of this movie mostly due to the unsettling characters. It almost has a Lynch-Eraserhead feel but not as dark and with laughs.

I checked it out in IMDb.com and found it was directed by Jack Hill, who many will recognize as the director of “Foxy Brown.” Here’s a movie that can easily have influenced films like “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” or “The Hills Have Eyes.” A bizarre, murderous, cannibalistic, inbred family; good times.:) I saw this movie for the first time about 3 years ago on Turner Classic Movies, the best channel on television for movies.

The basic plot is that a young couple inherit an old mansion inhabited by small demon-like creatures who are determined to make the wife one of their own.

The new version was co-written and produced by Guillermo del Toro known for the Sci-Fi shocker Mimic, the fantasy fun fare Hellboy and the beautifully filmed but equally disturbing Pan’s Labyrinth to name a few.  Knowing that del Toro is involved makes the notion of a remake tolerable and somewhat intriguing.

The remake was completed last year, but Disney opted not to release the Miramax film. The film finally did land a distributor in the newly formed (Oct. 2010) distributor FilmDistrict.  The film will be released August 12, 2011.

That night I became a George Romero fan.   Later that decade, I went on opening day to see what is still my favorite horror movie, Dawn of the Dead.  Since then, I have seen every film the master has made and look forward to more great things to come including his remake of Dario Argento’s Deep Red.

Depicted as a form of “new media” by the film’s director, Jason Heath, The Cthulhu Key is a thriller-styled, psychological horror.  Inspired by the works of 1930s horror author H.P. We are promoting a 1 minute short film for a contest organized by a Spanish theme park (portaventura). One of the prizes is for the most blogged short film. Our short film is many blogs in Spain, but we want international friends to watch the short film and

We’ve made a little Halloween present for horror movie fans and gamers alike based on the psychotic clown character, Sweet Tooth, from the Twisted Metal video games series. Here’s a quote from Twisted Metal co-creator about a potential Sweet Tooth movie:

Something about this really struck a cord with me and I wanted to see what that movie might look like. A small group of us down here in Austin, TX set out to make it happen and this is the result.

I loved Jaffe’s idea of making a slasher movie about Sweet Tooth because he is the type of killer than any movie fan would love. I have no idea if they are actually working on one or not but I wanted to give movie fans and gamers a taste of what one might look like just in time for Halloween.

Attila: How are you doing?

Debbie: I’m doing really good.

Attila: Thanks for taking the time to do this interview.

Debbie: It’s my pleasure.

Attila: How was your first time movie experience doing Paramount Pictures’ Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains! which some people may recognize the director, Lou Adler, who directed Cheech & Chong Up in Smoke and produced The Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Debbie: It was an amazing experience. When I made the movie, I was homeless and so when I got the opportunity to make that movie, I was doing two incredible things. I was making, what for me at the time, amazing money – $300 a week, cash and two, it was just a positive experience – because, you know, coming from like so many people, foster homes, was a very bad home situation and having had run away, I was like 11, 12 when I made that movie – it was just a really positive experience because I would work very hard, unlike other people who had bit parts – they were just like fluffing off and they really didn’t care about being there and they didn’t know what it meant to make a movie and how much time it would take. All the positive feedback that I got, for being so committed and into it – it was really a good thing for me.

Attila: Do you find yourself reflecting on that experience every now and then?

Debbie:  Hmmm. Probably not – it’s been so much time – I just look back and think that, it’s funny, but even then, even not knowing anything about filmmaking, you know I was really, really into it and I just enjoyed the whole process. Whereas, like what I was saying before, a lot of people around me, just sort of, I don’t know what their idea was, what it would be like to make a movie but I guess they didn’t realize that it was actually very long hours, lot of hard work – I spent three months on that set. So, I just loved it. I loved the whole thing. The long process. I loved really getting into it. To this day, I always enjoy spending – you know – I do a lot of movies where I may spend, 2 or 3 or 4 days on the set, but my favorite experiences are when I spend 3 or 4 weeks, having nothing else going on in my life – just throwing myself into the movie. That’s what’s satisfying because you really get to use yourself.

Attila: Very cool.

Debbie: Yeah.

Attila: So how did you eventually leave Vancouver to come to New York – why New York and not LA?

Debbie: I knew I wanted to study. By the time I was 14 or 15 – I had auditioned for the community college course, for the theater department and I was accepted. So I had three jobs; bussing tables, selling clothes, working in restaurants – doing stuff. I had saved up a couple of thousand dollars for, at that time, community college, but in fact, I decided to take my money, I said, well you know, all the books that they want us to work from, all the people who wrote them, the acting teachers, are all in New York. So, I wanted to go and study with the people who wrote the books. I didn’t have weird thoughts of “oh I want to be a movie star” – I wanted to be an actor. So it made sense to go to New York and not LA.

Attila: I checked out your bio on line and I saw that you trained at the top theater establishments including the famed Lee Strasberg Institute, the Michael Chekhov Studio and the Herbert Berghof Studio.

Debbie: Yeah, yeah.

Attila: It sounds like you were very committed right from the outset.

Debbie: Yeah, I really was and I spent a lot years when I first got here just studying, you know, and doing a lot of stage and sort of falling in to film, in a way.

Attila: Did you enjoy doing theater and would you do it again?

Debbie: I love doing theater! It was just like the Paramount experience, because you would really have to live it for a long period of time – six weeks of rehearsals – however long the run was, but, ever since I was a very young girl – I always loved horror movies.

Attila: So you were a fan then before you became an actress?

Debbie: Yeah – oh big time! I like the scary ones, and also like the campy ones – like the Hammer films, where all the woman vampires are very sexy women – so, in a twisted way, were role models – you know I thought, “those were women!”

Attila: You actually worked with one, right? Veronica Carlson?

Debbie: Yeah in, ah,

Debbie/Attila: …Black Easter.

Debbie: Yup, yup. Yeah, that was very exciting. So, did I like theater? I loved it at the time. And I would do it again, of course I would do it again, however, it’s very different now, I’m just so into film – I’ve co-produced a film – I just love working on film – I think in terms of shots, I think in terms of film. My head is in such a different place – I would say, that I probably will do something, because I know a lot of friends of mine do theater and they’ve been talking about doing something lately, and I would definitely do it with them, but my passion is for film now.

Attila: Do you have any ambitions to direct a film?

Debbie: You know I might one day, but I don’t know, I would rather want to produce. I really don’t think just anybody should direct, but there are exceptions, there are exploitation videos and stuff like, that people do for money or for fun, but I think that if you’re going to really do something, you need to have a vision, you have to know how to shoot a camera. You have to know something about every aspect of it to really understand it – you have to know lighting, you have to know shots, you have to be able to do something special instead of just hacking it. Yeah, I hope to get there one day, but I don’t underestimate that job. To me, that’s the captain and it really is. A lot of people get into film and just want to be a director because they’re into control. But it’s not about that. It’s totally artistic. So when that time comes, it will come. But right now, I’m loving learning still.

Attila: Your career, a lot of it has been around horror movies and b-horror movies. Was this by choice, or was it just a choice that you had to make as an actress to keep working and working?

Debbie: Well, I guess the answer is yes to a certain extent to all of your questions, but what happened was, I did some films – whatever films that I got that I had auditioned for in the very beginning, like Chuck Vincent, when he stopped doing porno and he did straight T&A comedies for cable – I did a couple of his movies, I did a couple of Roberta Finley’s movies. Then I did the movie with Barry Brown, who was Spike Lee’s editor, Lonely in America, and that was great. Then I sort of fell into a genre film – and it was shot on video. It really was a good part. The film was never completed or released, but it was a good part and the whole thing sort of fell apart in the middle of shooting. In the mean time, we had gone around to conventions and stuff, and I had met a lot of people and I got a little bit of work from that. And then, once the work started actually getting out there, then a lot of the genre magazines were writing about me – so then I just started getting a lot of request in that field – and seeing it was always my favorite field anyway, unlike a lot girls, thinking, it’s an easy route.

For example, if you read a lot of biographies, on, you know the chicks that work for – you know, even some that work for Roger Corman, Wynorski, and all these people – they’re all either dancers or porno stars thinking the easy route into movies is through B-Movies. It kind of makes me mad in a way, I mean they’re used for a very specific reason – and that’s just the truth. But, it was never thought of as a stepping stone for me – I just really LOVE the genre. So that’s what sort of kept me there. Now why I haven’t done other things, for better or for worse, I haven’t made the decision to stop and change gears and try and go after the mainstream stuff – and it’s probably stupid on my part because that’s where the money is. But in my opinion, what I find interesting and what I like as an actor, I like playing roles that are crazy – that are out there – that are nuts – there is something wrong with these people – that’s what I know, because I know dysfunction from my life. So that’s what I enjoy doing. I can’t relate to nice-nice, girlfriend, mother, whatever kind of role – you know – there’s nothing wrong with those roles, but they’re not me. I would feel very uncomfortable doing them. But, it’s probably been a mistake – financially – but I really enjoy the genre – and I would like to work in much bigger films within the genre.

Attila: Okay, so you would go for a more, mainstream, horror film, like for example, Urban Legends: Final Cut is coming out this week – you know, one of these bigger studio horror flicks?

Debbie: Oh yeah! As much as I love independent movies – it’s just – the downside is not that they’re low budget – it’s not even that I don’t make any money – it’s not any of these things – it’s that nowadays, between the theaters and the cable channels, no longer truly playing the independent movies – you can’t get them out there. The Internet is helping a lot. Now you can buy anything. And that’s a great thing. Unless your stuff is on TV – you know, forget about the theaters – but unless it’s on just cable – it’s, to a lot people, it just doesn’t count.

Attila: Yeah, they (distributors) want to cover all the distribution channels and leverage the product as much as they can.

Debbie: Yeah, exactly.

Attila: Speaking of the Internet – I looked for some of your movies at Amazon.com and came across Hellblock 13 on DVD. So how was it working with Gunnar Hanson?

Debbie: Oh Gunnar – I’ve known him for a long time. He’s great. He’s just a fun guy.

Attila: Tell me about Abducted II.

Debbie: It’s this really sort of interesting, weird movie that doesn’t fall into any particular genre because it doesn’t deliver the goods. I don’t know – it’s sort of funny.

Attila: That was with Jan Michael Vincent. How was it working with him?

Debbie: He was good. What amazed me about him – and everyone on the set – was that no matter how drunk and how messed up he was – he has so much talent – that drowned in alcohol – but he had so much talent and knowledge of film that he could be drunk out of his mind and still be able to act. Well he sort of lost that near the end, when he did, like a movie with Fred Olen Ray and stuff like that, he started to lose that. But when I was working with him, I could see it in his eyes, like, no matter how messed up he was, he still had the ability to tap into his talent, because the talent was so great – and I mean that – it’s just that, he’s like a perfect example of what overindulgence can do to an actor. He had such a promising career.

Attila: Well, you’ve had some career – the Internet Movie Database lists you with, what, 46 movies.

Debbie: Yeah. (chuckles)

Attila: Yeah, that’s something. But I have to say, that you’ve etched yourself into horror history by having starring credits in two very recognizable franchises, and that’s Toxic Avenger and here’s a loaded one, the Living Dead series. Now we have to talk about this a second, because I scoured the web and read a lot of reviews for Night of the Living Dead 30th Anniversary…

Debbie: Oh – scathing. Scathing!

Attila: …but they’re by hard core fans and they hold Romero’s movie sacred.

Debbie: Yes.

Attila: Although the overall reactions to the film were negative, they also wrote, and this is a paraphrased quote, “that the only acceptable additional scene to the film was the scene with Debbie Rochon.” What’s your reaction to that?

Debbie: Well, first of all – when I first – okay – very naïve on my part to think this way, but I really felt, and I mean this sincerely, I really felt when we were doing it except for George Romero, who regardless of what anyone says, because, I knew the people there, there was no lying going on to me, he very much was going to do – but he changed his mind, plus Resident Evil was coming. He had been working on script revisions with John Russo before he had dropped out. When I was there, with everybody minus George, everybody there on the project – it was a very exciting experience for me.

Since there’s been some time since we did it, I can most definitely sympathize with the hard core fans. I totally understand it may seem absurd that people even did this. But they are wrong on a few counts. Number one – they didn’t do it for the money per se – they did it because they wanted to do a 30th anniversary. They had lost the rights a long time ago and these are people who – everybody else was making money off it except for the original creators. A technicality, which actually Russ Streiner would be able to describe to you in more detail than I, as a technicality – they had to add something, I believe, it’s some copyright law, where they needed to add 18 minutes of new footage in order for it to be copyrightable again – I’m not the person to give you the exact details, but there was a very specific thing there since it was in public domain so long.

Some fan criticisms were also that the film graininess that George Romero wanted wasn’t there and that’s wrong. It had been bootlegged so many times, that you’re seeing maybe 20 generations away from the original print – and George Romero, in his own words, did not want that look – he wasn’t going for that look.

So I totally understand where these fans are coming from, how they feel about it, and totally sympathize with them that they feel somewhat betrayed, but at the same time, I don’t like when people are slinging mud when they are incorrect. They can hate it, they can tell their friends not to buy it, but you can’t lie about it. There’s a difference. You can not use false accusations.

I totally had a wonderful time doing it. If I could turn back the clock, I would do it again in a second – I wouldn’t even think about it. I’m proud that I did it. It was a highlight for me as huge fan – A HUGE FAN – of the movie. It was interesting for me on another level. I did a movie that shut down about a quarter to half way through – it was called Negative. It was like 1988 or 1989 and it was with Duane Jones and it was really close to the time he had died – I’m not sure what year he died. But I was so upset, being such a huge fan of Night of the Living Dead – I was so upset that that movie shut down, because the checks started to bounce from the producers. So everybody walked. I was like, “oh my god” I came so close to working with Duane Jones from Night of the Living Dead. So that was another thing for me – you know – in a very odd way, I did. So that was good for me too.

That’s what I think. I had a great time and I’m sorry, the people who didn’t like it, didn’t like it – I also had a lot of good feedback. People who felt like that it was an honorable job fitting the scenes in. They felt that for the most part, it really worked. The clean print was great. And they did enjoy it.

Attila: And like I mentioned a lot of them, even the skeptical ones, did appreciate your contribution though.

Debbie: Yeah, that was really generous – believe me because I know they were really letting everyone have it. So to those that allowed me to slip through the cracks that was very kind – very kind. And then I should also add, what was already put to you during the show (eYada.com 9/9/00), when you were on our show which was, and this is why Tim said it, it’s actually my line – my question to the hard core fans has always been for the past two years, “if you were asked to be cut into your all-time favorite movie – what would you say?”

Attila: Right. And how I mentioned on your show, I’m not crazy about the idea of someone doing it, but if it’s being done, I definitely want to be a part of it.

Debbie: Right. That’s what it really comes down to. So, if one criticizes the choice, you can’t really throw the first stone if indeed you would’ve done the same thing.

Attila: Okay, switching gears – last year you did Terror Firmer for Troma – and that had a theatrical run right?

Debbie: Yeah, and it’s going to be at the Anthology Film Archives theater in New York City in December.

Attila: Is this one of your biggest films for a theatrical run?

Debbie: Well, Tromeo and Juliet did really well. That was in New York and LA and actually a whole bunch of other cities – and I believe in Chicago and definitely in LA it ran as a midnight movie for six or eight months. It actually ran here as a midnight movie in the Angelica but only lasted a couple of months. That was probably the biggest theatrical film.

Attila: Tell me about Toxie 4.

Debbie: That, as you mentioned, was another highlight for me because I’m a huge fan of The Toxic Avenger. So to be in Toxic Avenger Part 4 was very exciting – very, very exciting. I play a nine month, pregnant, Jewish, single teacher and she teaches the mentally retarded. A gang comes in the class, called the Diaper Mafia, as opposed to the Trench Coat Mafia, and they shoot up the class and then Toxie comes in – it’s great – it was a lot of fun – we just shot it recently in Poughkeepsie, NY – and that’s also going to be coming out the end of this year as well, and I know Lloyd is going to take it around to the festivals and get a theatrical but it’s going to be really close on the tale of Terror Firmer. So those two will be sought of back-to-back. So that’s very exciting.

Attila: It’s big news for Troma and it seems like you’re leading the way there. It’s like a Troma revival going on.

Debbie: Yeah – yeah. And I have to say that, it sounds really self serving but I mean it from the heart, I’m very proud, because the three movies that I’ve done with Troma, besides The Toxic Avenger are my favorite Troma movies. And I think, that Lloyd, since he did – you know there were like four or five years that he never made a movie – he did Sgt. Kabukiman, NYPD and he had a hard time with that movie – and he sort of stepped back for four or five years – and then with Tromeo and Juliet, I think he’s really come into a new space – and I think that the movies are better than ever in my opinion.

Attila: Excellent. You’re off to Texas to shoot the American Nightmare.

Debbie: Yeah – I’m going to Austin for about three weeks and I play the killer in the movie. It’s a very cool premise. It’s about pirate radio – well he’s not sort of disc jockey, more like a talk show guy, and he has a show that runs now and again – he sort of moves from town to town running from the FCC and everybody else and he’s in this one town and he has a following at this point. It’s Halloween night – there are seven friends, early twenties, hanging around a diner listening to the show at the diner. The disc jockey, Caligari is his names, he gets everyone to call in with their greatest fears seeing it’s Halloween. I’m in town, and I’m at the diner at the same time in the beginning of the movie. So I’m there and I hear everyone’s deepest darkest fears. So, that’s sort of my chance to kill everybody based on what their deepest darkest fears are. So that’s very exciting.

Attila: Yeah. Sounds like you get to play a nice, twisted character there.

Debbie: She is so twisted. I mean that she’s the type that just – you think that she’s a really nice, easy going person, but she’s really demented. And the nice thing about this character, is that it’s absolutely not this, you know, pretty femme fatale, that just kills people and she walks around sexy – I mean she’s a psycho – she’s nuts.

Attila: Do they do some character development for you?

Debbie: Yeah, they do. I do some self-mutilation. There’s a question mark whether I’m in cahoots with Caligari – there’s definitely some stuff going on there, but she’s a nut job – she has a lot of problems. I mean it’s a very well written script and I don’t know if you’ve been to the American Nightmare site?

Attila: Yes, I have – it’s nicely done.

Debbie: They did a nice job with it.

Attila: So what are the intentions for the film – are they going to take it to market and try and get theatrical distribution?

Debbie: It’s so hard to get theatrical. I’m sure that they will try and go to all the film festivals. So, it’s really hard to say – what would be the ultimate, would be the worst case scenario, is that it will end up on cable and I mean that as a positive thing. And with hopes of, certainly going to film festivals, and hopes of some sort of limited theatrical. And what I find, is that a lot of these movies, depending on where they are shot, and even if they don’t get theatrical release, a lot of times they will in the city that they are shot in. For instance, I can guarantee you that in Austin, it will be theatrically released.

Attila: Sure, it’s like a hometown movie. Are there any particular actors or directors that you’d enjoy working with down the line or do you have a dream director or actor in mind?

Debbie: Well I’ll tell you something – Kubrick is dead. He has just got to be my favorite director because he has so many movies in my top ten, The Shining, 2001, A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket – these are just – oh my god!

Attila: They are all spectacular movies and it’s funny, the four movies you named are four totally different genres and that goes to show you the brilliance of Kubrick.

Debbie: I know. It’s funny because I recently watched the making of The Shining. Shelly Duvall was saying that he really would play mind games with the actors. He would divide the camp – he would make her insecure – she felt so tortured while she was making the movie. Everybody went through, emotionally, so much. It wasn’t just like a typical movie where all the stars show up, you do your scenes, you’re treated like a king and you go. There were so many levels, of what he was doing, to get the performance. If she wasn’t, whatever enough, he would scream at her – or he would say something that would make her feel really insecure – and that sounds horrible to someone who doesn’t make movies – it’s like uuughhh – sounds like a monster – but the truth was he got out of her, and this is in her words, “the best performance” she has ever done. And not while she was making the movie, but in retrospect, that was her favorite experience because she just went through so much making the movie – that it was memorable and it was the best performance because she was pushed to her limits, and there’s only one way to push someone to their limits.

That’s probably the thing that I miss – or haven’t had. I’ve worked with some talented people, without a doubt, really nice people, but I have yet to have someone push me – like have the ability to really push me. Everything I’ve done is just, literally, what I’ve come up with. And I think that when the day comes, that I’ll be able to bring that and combine it with a director who just pushes me to the limit – I think that’s when I’ll be able to talk about my favorite performance.

Attila: You’re definitely on the right path for that to happen and I’m sure it will.

Debbie: I hope so. (chuckles)

Attila: Let’s say for those at HorrorMovies.com, who may have never have seen one of your films, even though I know you still haven’t reached your peak yet, what would you recommend for them to see, like their first Debbie Rochon movie?

Debbie: Well I think they should see a variety of movies to see range. Because, if nothing else, even if you don’t like the movie, I think I’ve done movies where they’re just so different, you know the characters are so different. You would have to see Tromeo and Juliet, Terror Firmer, In the Hood, Abducted II, Broadcast Bombshells and something like American Nightmare because you would see such a difference in everyone of those movies. And even something, like, I did a shot on video movie Alien Agenda, you know, none of these movies are for everybody, but it’s a very cool movie in the sense that there’s a lot of dialogue, so you can see more dialogue driven scenes in something like that. I just think you would have to see four or five to see the differences and I think that’s what you’d be able to appreciate about me. As opposed to like, oh like this amazing movie that she’s done – I’ve done cool things, but I haven’t done that one yet. So I think you’d have to look around to see the range, hopefully.

Attila: Right. Breaking away from film for a moment, tell me about how you got into doing Internet radio at eYada.com?

Debbie: I had done a movie talk show at Pseudo.com for about two and half years. Then I met Tim Reid, on, I think while they were doing casting for Toxie 4, but he was interviewing Trent Haaga and I for Terror Firmer. He was just a GREAT guy. I mean, I had a lot of fun talking to him and he was just really cool. He invited me on the show a couple of times and then invited me to be his co-host. I have so much fun with him. He’s just been really great. Great guy to know – I couldn’t ask for a better co-host.

Attila: It’s a great show and I blast being on it. You guys do a great job.

Debbie: Thank you.

Attila: Is there anything you’d like to say, before we wrap it up?

Debbie: Only that if I have to convince anybody into buying anything, that we need support – I have a self-published book out called The B-Movie Survival Guide. It’s got a forward by Joe Bob Briggs. It has little stories in it by Gunnar Hanson, Lloyd Kaufman, a bunch of other independent film people. It’s really just a satirical book with some jokes in it, but it’s also got some cool stories and it’s a nice little coffee table book.

Attila: It’s a great cover – with you holding the knife.

Debbie: Yeah. (chuckles) It’s so cheap also – it’s less than $10. If anybody felt the desire to support me they can get it at Amazon.com.

“JIM,” the World’s Grimmest

This is one of my favorite Vincent Price films. It terrified me as a child and yet brings back wonderful memories. This is a William Castle gem.

First time film maker Jeremy Morris-Burke cleverly weaves together two stories of the present and distant future to create a scary vision of hopes and dreams as well as chaos and nightmares.

The film tells the story of Jim Kotofsky, a man who once had a good job, a loving wife and prosperous future, but debt, unemployment and personal tragedy take its toll setting up Jim to lose psychological control at any given moment. Fed up with the world, Jim turns to Lorigen Engineering, a biotech firm that can engineer a son for him capable of and overcoming all obstacles that the world throws at him.

The futuristic tale is set in a world in ruin where the leader Niskaa, governs a land comprised of genetically modified beings and clones that lack the capabilities of reason and compassion. That is, all but one young clone who sets out on a quest for knowledge and truth.

The film has some disturbing moments that emphasize its relevancy to modern reality. JIM is stylish with quality cinematography and special effects. While the quality of the acting varies character to character, Dan Illian delivers a stand-out performance as JIM.

JIM delivers the goods on many levels and should join the ranks of SciFi cult indies like Mad Max.

With surprise twists, one is left with the simple saying, be careful for what you wish for.

JIM opens in NY on Oct. 8th (Quad Cinema) and in LA on Oct. 15th (Sunset 5) then other cities across the U.S.
